# Convergence
Convergence is the idea that at some point, our phones will become our computers. I like this idea. We're already carrying this decently powerful computer around in our pockets, why not be able to use them to power a "laptop" style chasis?
Why stop there? We could have a desktop style setup, with a graphics card, extra storage, heck better memory, and even additional CPU power. When you're ready to hit the road, pop the phone out of the dock, and slide into the special slot on a tablet type device, and the same system you're already using is now your tablet. Need enhance productivity on the road? Slide the phone into a laptop body, as I mentioned before.
I don't really understand why this doesn't seem to be the direction things are going. Samsung has dabled in the field with the Dex interface, but that's not really quite hitting the mark. One of the hurdles remaining is an OS that can handle being both a phone, adn a computer OS at the same time.
I know what you're thinking: "But wait, isn't Android already a fork of linux? Couldn't linux do all of this?", and yes, I think it could. It just isn't yet. Will it in the future? Who knows. I do thinkg that whoever cracks this well will be on the forefront of the next technology wave. That's just like, my opinion, man.
